Predictable Aesthetic Outcomes Through Advanced Soft Tissue Management. ITI Bucharest Study Club 2nd meeting.
Lecture by: Dr Meizi Eliezer
Achieving predictable aesthetic outcomes in contemporary dentistry requires precise management of peri-implant and periodontal soft tissues. This lecture focuses on mastering advanced soft tissue techniques to optimize both functional stability and aesthetic integration around natural teeth and dental implants.
A biologically driven approach will be presented, emphasizing the importance of soft tissue
phenotype, vascularization, and wound stability in achieving long-term success. Key surgical concepts will include flap design, minimally invasive approaches, and the strategic use of autogenous grafts such as subepithelial connective tissue grafts (SCTG), as well as adjunctive biomaterials including enamel matrix derivatives (EMD) and cross-linked hyaluronic acid.
Clinical protocols for recession coverage, soft tissue thickening, and peri-implant phenotype
modification will be illustrated through step-by-step cases. Special attention will be given to
managing challenging aesthetic zones, including treatment of peri-implant dehiscence and
harmonization of the “pink frame” around restorations.
The lecture will integrate evidence-based principles with clinical decision-making, highlighting when to preserve, augment, or reconstruct soft tissues to achieve optimal outcomes. Participants will gain practical insights into selecting the appropriate technique and materials to enhance predictability in both periodontal and implant aesthetics.
